ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Erasmo Ramirez has a no-hitter through seven innings against the New York Yankees.
The Yankees have had two baserunners. Alex Rodriguez walked with two outs in the fourth and Brett Gardner drew another walk to start the seventh.
Gardner was doubled off second after Mikie Mahtook made a leaping catch into the right-field wall on Brian McCann’s drive.
Ramirez has six strikeouts and has thrown 87 pitches in the scoreless game.
Second baseman Logan Forsythe, playing in shallow right field, made a leaping catch on Greg Bird’s soft liner in the second.
Carlos Beltran hit an opposite-field flyball leading off the fifth that was caught on the warning track.
The game is tied 0-0.
